What is a bedside crib?

A bedside crib (also called bassinet or co-sleeper) is a small baby crib that is attached to your adult bed, allowing your infant to sleep in a safe environment with you. This is a type of co-sleeping in a safe manner that doesn't increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) like bedsharing and can help you build a bond with your baby's new arrival.
These cots often have a side that is able to be adjusted so that you can easily reach your infant throughout the night for feeding and comforting. This is especially useful for mothers recovering from an op. Many of them are mobile or foldable, which means you can bring them along on trips and use them as a sleeping option for babies who aren't yet ready to move into a cot that is full size.
Choose a crib that has an air-conditioned mattress, as well as a protective cover that will protect your baby from stains. You may also want to purchase some baby-safe accessories like an infant blanket or a teether.
If you're looking for a more long-term solution cribs are available with conversion kits that let you transform them into a toddler bed or a cot when the time is appropriate. This can extend their lifespan and make the transition easier. Some come with a removable section at the top that can be converted into an infant bed. Some can be used with either a standard adult bed or a high-rise bed. This is a great option for families who are planning on frequent travel or switching between bedrooms at night. Consider the dimensions of your bedroom to ensure that you fit in the crib comfortably. A lot of cribs have an incline that can be added to create an incline to accommodate babies with reflux.
